How We Measure Our Confetti

We measure our confetti volume in 1 litre bagged amounts, not by weight due to petal size variations. Volume offers the fairest and most reliable solution. But how far will that go, we hear you ask?

We understand that many people are unsure about how much confetti you'll need for the big event - We want you to have just the right amount because after all, who wants guests left empty-handed when they want to join in the fun? Equally you don't want loads left unused, even though it is biodegradable!

Below we've created a visual guide to show what a litre of confetti looks like, how we measure a loose handful etc...Plus we've answered the most common questions that we come across, so we hope our handy info & tips helps you get the guidance you need. If you'd still prefer to double check, no problem at all - Just get in touch and we'll happily answer any of your queries.

1 Litre of small natural confetti petals

We measure all our confetti out into our trusty 1 litre jugs so we know it's always the right amount.

Of course with a smaller petal confetti, you'll receive a higher volume of petals than with larger-petal types.

1 Litre of medium natural confetti petals

So with a medium petal confetti, you'll receive a lower volume of petals than with smaller petal types, but more than with the large ones.

1 Litre of large natural confetti petals

Of course with a large petal confetti, you'll receive a lower volume of petals than with smaller petal types.

Handful Guide

So just how far will a litre of confetti go? Well, it's hard to be precise on this of course but we try to help by giving some idea. With small petal confetti, we estimate that 1 litre of confetti will provide 10-15 loose handfuls and fill around 15-20 packets. (For extra detail, we define a 'loose handful' as the exact amount of a double shot glass, i.e 50ml - Not a small scattering but not a huge mound either, just the typical amount someone would hold to throw)

With medium/large petal confetti, we estimate that 1 litre of confetti will provide 8-12 loose handfuls and fill around 10-15 packets.

If you're wanting to scatter the confetti down the aisle prior to the ceremony, we loosely estimate that 1 litre of natural confetti scattered lightly will cover approximately a metre.

Should I assume I need to have enough confetti for every person at my event?

It's totally up to you of course but from our experience we'd always say account for every single guest!

We get regular feedback from customers who said they were so pleased they bought enough for all, as there would've been some disappointed faces if left out right at the special moment! People just love to join in at the end of the day.

Should the confetti bag be full to the top?

To clarify, the bags we supply the confetti in themselves actually hold a quantity of over 1 litre, so the bags are not 100% full to the brim. This is to ensure there is some air space left around the petals to help cushion and avoid them being crushed during transport.

We measure the confetti volume with a litre jug prior to it being bagged and always ensure we add a little bit extra for good luck anyway!
